PROJECT SCOPE

SGH Civil Engineering & Surfacing Contractors have completed this prestigious project on behalf of Doncaster Council. The project brief was to provide a new active travel route to promote both cycling and walking from A630 Clay Lane Roundabout, spanning the full length of Barnby Dunn Road and along Thorne Road to Wentworth signalised junction (approximately 2400m). The works were delivered at Thorne Road/Barnby Dun Road, which is an often-frequented and a major route into the heart of Doncaster so stakeholder buy-in was essential throughout.

ADDED VALUE

The introduction of the Cycle Way will produce long-term benefits for the Council. The ability to introduce a designated area for cyclists means that the Council have minimised the risk of accidents to pedestrians and cyclists. The new improved transport route has significantly increased the visual appeal and will hopefully encourage more people to cycle /walk into the City thus reducing our carbon footprint.
